Kindred has supported individuals and families in Calgary since 1957 through accessible counselling and relationship-focused care. Our work is grounded in a simple belief: strong human connections are essential to mental health and well-being.

We provide mental health services and parenting supports to help individuals and families navigate life’s challenges, strengthen their relationships, and build resilience.

Counselling

Individual & Group Sessions

Connect with a counsellor, often within a week, for a single session counselling appointment to help gain direction with an ongoing challenge or to support a current crisis.

Trans & Gender Diverse Counselling

Individual & Group Sessions

In partnership with Skipping Stone, these 75-minute single-session (‘one-at-a-time’) counselling services are available for Two-Spirit, transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals and their loved ones.

Newborn Cues & Connection

Individual Session

Your newborn is already a unique person with strengths, preferences, and ways of interacting with the world. This guided session invites you to slow down, observe, and get to know your new baby. We help you build confidence in understanding your baby’s cues and strengthen your connection.

  • Parents & caregivers of newborns from birth to 3 months who want to better understand their baby’s cues, build confidence in responding to their baby, and strengthen connection and bonding.

Preparing for Birth and Baby

A Prenatal Education Group

Group Session

Pregnant and looking to learn more about birth and postpartum? Join us for our virtual drop-in prenatal education series where we talk about everything labour, birth, postpartum, and life with a new baby. Partners/support people welcome!

Infant Massage:

Bonding Through Touch

Group Session

A 5-week Infant Massage Group that supports bonding, connection, and development. Caregivers learn gentle massage techniques to promote relaxation, ease discomfort, support milestones, and connect with other families.

Circle of Security Parenting

Group Session

More parents want to have a strong, loving connection with their children but find that many obstacles get in the way. Circle of Security makes the process of building a secure attachment practical and takes the shame out of not being perfect!

Little Ducklings Friendship Circle

Group Session

A fun and engaging way to support children ages 3-5 in their social, emotional and cognitive development. Through songs, games and warm relationships, children learn to make friends and build important skills for school-readiness.

Infant Feeding Group

Group Session

This infant feeding group supports and connects parents of children under age 3 with breastfeeding/chestfeeding, bottle feeding, intro to solid foods, and more!

  • Parents/caregivers of children aged 3 and under who want to learn about feeding, nutrition, and healthy child development.

Pregnancy & Early Postpartum Drop-In Support

Group Session

A weekly drop-in time for individuals and families who are pregnant or newly postpartum to connect with staff and other parents/caregivers. Support provided by Kindred includes referrals to basic needs and services, system navigation, and community resourcing. Drop-in support is provided by Kindred (Outreach), CUPS (RN), and Calgary Police Service (constable) weekly.

  • Adults (18+) who are pregnant and their families who want to connect with outreach, health, safety, emotional support, referrals, and community resources.

Free Play Fridays

Group Session

Come and play! Parents can enjoy coffee and snacks while their children enjoy a variety of toys and activities for ages 0-6. Play is unstructured, and parent supervision is required.
