We know it's hard to talk about your substance use, and how it may be causing problems in your life. Did you know that there are medications available that treat opioid and alcohol use disorder?
The Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic at The Alex is here to help you reduce or stop your substance use. We will support you until you are stable and then connect you to longer-term services. RAAM services include medication, peer support, counselling and groups.

WHAT TO EXPECT
How does it work?
Choose and book a session.
You provide brief information on this secure site. Then choose the counselling time, Monday to Friday, that works for you.
Receive Confirmation.
You will receive an email confirmation. At your appointment time, the counsellor will call you.
Your Counselling Session.
One 45-90 minute counselling session may be enough to address you needs. Other support options can also be discussed during your session.

Through this intake appointment we will assess your substance use and discuss options with you. You decide if you want to see a service provider who can discuss medical options for you. Our provider appointments are typically available in under one week.
Another option for intake is to come in person. If you would prefer this, our intake walk-in hours are between 9:00am-11:00am every weekday, except statutory holidays, at The Alex Community Health Centre main entrance – ask for RAAM when you arrive. Our location is 2840 2 Ave SE and we are accessible through Calgary Transit Blue Line LRT (take the north exit out of Franklin Station).
RAAM services at The Alex are free of charge.
