HERConnect Initiative

The HERConnect initiative is dedicated to transforming mental healthcare for Calgary's Black immigrant community at no cost. We provide mental health services tailored to the specific needs and experiences of African and Caribbean women and girls who have recently immigrated to Calgary within the past five years.

Adult

Counselling

Individual Sessions

Providing culturally sensitive one-on-one therapy to help adults manage grief, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, while building coping strategies and improving overall well-being.

Costs:

  • This is a free service.

Serving:

  • African, Caribbean, and Black women (18+) who have arrived to Canada in the last five years and are seeking support for their mental health and well-being.

Culturally Sensitive

Counselling

Individual Sessions

Providing culturally sensitive counselling tailored to the unique experiences of newcomers and immigrant Black women and girls, delivered by Black therapists in a supportive, understanding environment.

Costs:

  • This is a free service

Serving:

  • African, Caribbean, and Black women (18+) who have arrived to Canada in the last five years who are navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, or identity-related stress.

Youth

Counselling

Individual Sessions

Providing culturally sensitive youth counselling for youth to help manage stress, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills in a convenient and accessible format.

  • This is a free service

Serving:

  • Youth African, Caribbean, and Black girls (aged 12-17) who have arrived to Canada in the last five years and are looking to explore their unique feelings and mental health needs.

Providing culturally sensitive support for couples to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and work through challenges in a safe and neutral environment.
