Carya
A 12-week strengths-based group learning program that is ideal for individuals who have faced barriers to education, such as financial challenges or learning difficulties. Participants join small, supportive groups where they engage in meaningful conversations and hands-on activities, that foster growth in confidence, communication, and problem solving. This program creates an accessible and inclusive learning environment.
Who Is This For?
- Adults (18+) looking to:
- Re-engage with learning
- Heal from experienced barriers such as cost, learning challenges, or low confidence
- Improve personal development and build transferable life skills
Note: Free childcare available upon request.
What To Expect?
Participants can expect:
- 12 weekly sessions, each 2 hours in length.
Service available in-person at the following locations:
Woman's Centre
Mondays, Sept 15 - Dec 1, 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Bowmont Commons
Thursdays, Sept 18 - Dec 4, 9:00am - 11:00am
Note: Sessions are offered at multiple locations with some options specifically for women-identifying participants. More information available upon booking.
Note: When booking through CCYYC, please be aware that this is an intake appointment to determine eligibility. During your intake appointment, a Carya staff member will assist in finding the next available group or recommend alternative services if a group is not currently available. This group program has a firm start date, and late entry is not permitted. If the group has already started, you will be placed on a waitlist for the next available service.

How does it work?
Choose and book a session.
You provide brief information on this secure site. Then choose the counselling time that works for you.
Receive Confirmation.
You will receive an email confirmation. At your appointment time, the counsellor will call you.
Your Counselling Session.
One 45-90-minute counselling session may be enough to address your needs. Other support options can also be discussed during your session.
Fee Structure
Community Connect YYC is committed to ensuring community members get the help they need when they need it, with as few barriers as possible, including finances. Some services found on the site are offered at no cost, some on a sliding scale basis, and others with a model that allows you to choose your own session fee. Every partner organization ensures that finances will never get in the way of accessing the service you need.
