Relationships with your Adult Children
Carya
A 8-week group for older adults who are navigating the evolving relationships with their adult children (25+). This program provides a space to explore shifty family dynamics, build effective communication strategies, set healthy boundaries, and prioritize personal well-being.
Through interactive discussions, guided content, and peer support, participants will reflect on their own values and gain tools to enhance or manage complex family relationships. Facilitators provide insight and support while fostering meaningful connections among participants with shared experiences.
Who Is This For?
- Parents or caregivers of adults children (25+) looking to:
- Improve or better understand their relationships with adult children
- Seek support in setting boundaries and maintaining emotional well-being
Note: Free childcare available upon request.
What To Expect?
Participants can expect:
- 8 weekly sessions, each 2 hours in length
Service available in-person at the following locations:
Village Commons
Thursdays, Oct 30 - Dec 18, 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Bowmont Commons
Wednesdays, Sept 3 - Oct 22, 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Note: When booking through CCYYC, please be aware that this is an intake appointment to determine eligibility. During your intake appointment, a Carya staff member will assist in finding the next available group or recommend alternative services if a group is not currently available. This group program has a firm start date, and late entry is not permitted. If the group has already started, you will be placed on a waitlist for the next available service.

How does it work?
Choose and book a session.
You provide brief information on this secure site. Then choose the counselling time that works for you.
Receive Confirmation.
You will receive an email confirmation. At your appointment time, the counsellor will call you.
Your Counselling Session.
One 45-90-minute counselling session may be enough to address your needs. Other support options can also be discussed during your session.
Fee Structure
Community Connect YYC is committed to ensuring community members get the help they need when they need it, with as few barriers as possible, including finances. Some services found on the site are offered at no cost, some on a sliding scale basis, and others with a model that allows you to choose your own session fee. Every partner organization ensures that finances will never get in the way of accessing the service you need.
